How do I send a text message in SARS to a student I met with?
You must have a shortname and have access to MYGRID to use this feature!
To use the text message to booked/showed appointment feature, you must first add the texting option to your MyGrid selected columns. Keep in mind that text messages can only be sent the way I describe here from the MY GRID tab, you cannot send them via The Grid tab.
- Open SARSAnywhere
- Open the Configuration options (small cog in top right next to the ?)
- Select the My GRID Columns tab
- Drag and drop the Send Text Message option from the right side to the left side.
- Click Ok on the screen and it is ready to use!
How to Send Text Message to a Student with a Booked/Showed Appointment from (MY GRID)
If the student has a text phone number in the system, the status icon in the Send Text column of MY GRID will be displayed.
- From MY GRID, click on the time slot containing the student appointment. Be sure the focus is on that slot.
- Click on the text icon TXT in the Send Text column – far right of the appointment information.
- A message screen will appear, [Recommended] Click the checkbox adjacent to Append from name. This will add your name in the text message so the recipient will know who it is from.
- Click in the Message textbox and proceed to type your message. The number of characters that have been typed will be displayed in the Approximate Characters box. Keep your message short as it may be split into multiple messages and confuse the recipient if they are jumbled upon receipt.
- Click Send. A message will be displayed stating that the message was sent successfully.
